Cabling the Cabled Cables
So I have been tagged in the “12 makes challenge” currently floating around on Instagram. I have to complete 12 works in progress or projects all completely from yarn in my stash without buying any more yarn. Lets face it, technically, I have enough yarn to do considerably more than 12 projects… BUT… it does limit the design process somewhat. In any case I decide to use up some of this russet yarn and have a go at my first written cabled pattern. 1 down, 11 to go.
I hope you enjoy it!
Pattern:
Special stitches:
C2F: slip 2 stiches onto a cable needle and hold at the
front of the work, knit the next two stitches, knit the two stitches off the
cable needle.
C2B: slip 2 stiches onto a cable needle and hold at the back
of the work, knit the next two stitches, knit the two stitches off the cable
needle.
C4F: slip 4 stiches onto a cable needle and hold at the front
of the work, knit the next four stitches, knit the four stitches off the cable
needle.
C4B: slip 4 stiches onto a cable needle and hold at the back
of the work, knit the next four stitches, knit the four stitches off the cable
needle.

The scarf should be worked by repeating these 2 sections;
Pattern section 1 (x5) followed by pattern section 2 (x1).
Once the scarf reaches desired length finish off using the
following pattern:
Row 1: K1, P1, across all stitches
Row 2: P1, K1, across all stitches
Row 3: K1, P1, across all stitches
Row 4: P1, K1, across all stitches
Cast off all stitches and weave in all ends.

ReplyDeleteHi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting in touch, there is cabling in section 1 row 13. The scarf is worked in repeating sections so you knit section 1 five times to give you the five small cables. Then you move onto section 2 to give the larger cable before moving back to section 1.
I hope that helps!
