When Bad Yarn Happens to Good People…
I know
things have been very quiet the past few weeks. It’s been the start of term and
that always means several things at work 1) Everything gets manically busy and
there is no time for anything fun. 2) All the students come back and give
everyone Freshers Flu. This is never a fun experience and this years delightful
viral episode meant that for two whole weeks I felt so awful I didn’t even
knit. However, I am back, and I have a new blanket pattern for you all.
A not
insignificant amount of the delay was due to the yarn I chose to use for this
blanket. It seemed like a lovely cranberry with a silvery twist through it in
the yarn shop. However, it is truly horrible to knit with it splits, stretches and
is impossible to block. The blanket will knit to any gauge (although the size
will obviously change) so I highly recommend ignoring this yarn and using
something, anything, nicer!
Enjoy!
Felicity
Pattern
Using 12mm
needles cast on 104 stitches (I highly recommend using a circular needle, but
remember not to join, this is worked flat).

Is it an actual maze with one or more solutions? I can see it as a meditation aid if it does.

DeleteHi,
DeleteYes, it does have a solution. I will post a picture of it with the route mapped out on my instagram (@FeliciPage). If you want to see it, you can pop over there to take a look.

Thank you! I look forward to making it! Having worked at a uni, I know of the freshman flu, the after holidays flu, and all of the other joys the students bring.
DeleteIts a nightmare isn't it! Fortunately things have calmed down a bit now so I am hard at work on designing some Christmas presents. Felicity
DeleteI really appreciate your humor about your knitting and the flu. Thank you for your talent for writing and creating interesting patterns that do NO boggle the strained brains during these very weird and scary years. Thank you for making me laugh after a wonderful breakfast my dearest and best friend. I have a lot of yarn and they also hit me in the head or other parts of my body when they escape!
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteThank you! I am really glad you like my patterns. I love knitting and crochet. It gives me a chance to unwind from all the stress. I'm working on several more things now, so keep an eye and I will post something new soon!
Felicity
Thank you for this pattern. I’m totally blind so having this written out in text format is very helpful. I’m making this for my mom. It will be a Christmas gift. I’m using Bernat blanket yarn
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad you like the pattern. Bernat blanket yarn is a great choice, its so soft. Felicity
